Made TV has issued the following press release information:

MADE TV NETWORK ACQUIRES NEW CHANNEL IN LIVERPOOL

Made TV, the largest operator of City TV Stations in the UK, is set to acquire its fifth television station with the purchase of Bay TV Liverpool, subject to Ofcom approval.

Made TV has joined with members of the Bay TV management team to acquire 100 per cent of the Liverpool station, which is to be re-named Made in Liverpool.

Says Jamie Conway, CEO of Made Television: “We are delighted to be adding a new station to our growing network.  Liverpool is a vibrant, exciting city and we’re looking forward to producing original, home-grown programming content that will encapsulate the energy of Liverpool life and provide viewers with enhanced viewing access via Sky Guide 117.

Made Television has spearheaded a new phenomenon in city TV broadcasting and is achieving significant success in terms of attracting new viewers to its stations and increasing advertising revenue month-on-month.

Recent BARB figures have revealed that each of Made TV’s stations in Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds and Tyne & Wear are consistently ahead of other channels such as Sky2, Sky Arts, National Geographic, Discovery, CBS Drama and the History Channel.

With over 2.7 million viewers tuning in to the City TV network on a monthly basis, the Made TV stations are attractive propositions for advertisers on a local and national level.  In August, Made in Leeds sold all of its available advertising space for the month and Made in Tyne & Wear was almost completely sold out of available air-time.

Adds Conway: “City TV is a fledgling industry and there will inevitably be successes and failures along the way. While some have read into Bay TV’s situation as detrimental to the industry, we are committed to investing in this important and nascent new sector in television as are the management team of Bay TV who we are proud to work with.  Made in Liverpool provides an exciting opportunity to share our resource and expertise still further, bringing engaging local content to a whole new set of viewers in Liverpool.”

Bay TV Liverpool CEO, Chris Johnson, will take up the position as Station Manager for the new Made in Liverpool channel.

Chris Johnson said: “I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that come with the new Made in Liverpool channel.

“All the Bay TV staff are all committed to developing the new station, making it more ambitious than ever and reaching more viewers with the addition of broadcasts via  the Sky platform.

“Our journalists and programme makers have already scored many great achievements.  Under the new banner of Made in Liverpool, we will continue our mission to reflect the life and times of the people of the great Liverpool City Region.”
