Here’s a media release from London Live:

LONDON LIVE AND THE AMY WINEHOUSE FOUNDATION

London Live, the capital’s TV channel, is delighted to announce that it has partnered with the Amy Winehouse Foundation and will be broadcasting performances from artists currently working with the charity as part of their Amy’s Yard initiative.

Each month, one artist will perform on the daily entertainment programme The Evening News showcasing the original track they produced while on the programme – the partnership will kick off on Tuesday 19th January with a performance from 22 year old Londoner, Karyma.

Amy’s Yard is a 12-week programme that supports talented young people to gain the confidence and skills to become self-sustaining music artists, and individuals. Throughout the programme participants work in Amy’s studio one to one with a professional producer to nurture their talent, and learn every step of making a vocal recording. They also attend a series of Master Classes delivered by current industry professionals from companies such as Island Records, Metropolis Music and Handle Recruitment. On completion all participants attain Level 3 AQA Accredited Certification in; Music Business, Artist Development and Transferable Skills. Each young person is referred by partner organisations such as The Roundhouse, Raw Sounds, The Prince’s Trust and Sound Connections, who work with vulnerable young people facing complex needs such as homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse or unemployment.

London Live’s Head of News & Current Affairs, Jim Grice, said “We are absolutely thrilled to have partnered with the Amy Winehouse Foundation. As a channel we pride ourselves in offering Londoners a platform and stepping stone into their career. It’s hugely important that those who are disadvantaged are nurtured, supported and given opportunities to develop and showcase their work, we are delighted to offer experience and exposure for the graduates of this fantastic programme.”

Rowan Carnihan, the Charity & Development Coordinator, said “This is such a fantastic opportunity for our young artists who come from all over London and represent the musical diversity that makes this city such an exciting place to be. We are so grateful to London Live for shining a light on our amazing young artists who continue to inspire us and our work every single day”.

The Evening News is broadcast from 6pm everyday
